Privacy at a Glance
Colligo was designed around a simple principle: the documents you work with should remain under your control.
Your documents stay local
Documents imported into Colligo are processed locally on your Mac as part of Colligo's normal document-reading and research functionality.
Your research stays local
Colligo stores project information such as annotations, highlights, Important Pages, and related project state locally on your Mac.
No Colligo account required
You do not need to create a Colligo account or provide Colligo with an email address to use the macOS application.
1. Scope of This Privacy Notice
This Privacy Notice explains how privacy is handled when you use the Colligo application for macOS, visit official Colligo webpages operated by Denarya, or contact Denarya regarding Colligo.
Colligo is a local-first document reading and research application. It allows users to import supported documents, organize research projects, review pages, create highlights and notes, identify Important Pages, and export research materials.
This Privacy Notice applies to Colligo and official Colligo webpages. Services provided by Apple or other third parties are governed by their own privacy policies and terms.
2. Local-First Document Processing
Documents that you choose to import into Colligo are processed locally on your Mac as part of Colligo's normal document-reading, organization, annotation, and research functionality.
Colligo does not upload the contents of your imported documents to Denarya as part of its normal document-processing functionality.
The application does not require a Denarya or Colligo cloud account in order to open, organize, annotate, or review your documents.
Because Colligo is designed around local document processing, you remain responsible for the files stored on your Mac, your device security, and any backups or copies you choose to create.
3. Information Stored on Your Mac
To provide its features and preserve your work between sessions, Colligo may store application data locally on your Mac.
Depending on how you use Colligo, locally stored information may include:
- Documents or document copies that you choose to import into a Colligo project
- Project names and project organization
- Information needed to associate documents with projects
- Page organization and reading state
- Highlights and annotation information
- Notes that you create
- Important Page selections and organization
- Locally generated thumbnails or other supporting project resources
- Application preferences and settings
This information exists to provide the Colligo experience on your device. Colligo does not operate a cloud synchronization service for this local project data as part of the application's current functionality.
4. Information Denarya Does Not Receive Through Normal App Use
Based on Colligo's current application design, ordinary use of its document-reading and research features does not transmit your imported document contents, highlights, notes, Important Pages, or local project files to Denarya.
Colligo does not include a Denarya-operated document analytics, document telemetry, or document-content processing service.
Colligo also does not require you to provide your name, email address, or other account information in order to use the application.
This does not mean that information can never leave your Mac through actions outside Colligo's normal local processing. For example, you may choose to export a file, move a file to a cloud-synchronized folder, share a file using another service, visit an external webpage, or contact Denarya directly.
5. Documents and Files You Choose
Colligo accesses documents when you intentionally select or import them for use with the application. You control which supported files you choose to bring into Colligo.
Your documents remain your documents. Denarya does not claim ownership of documents, text, research materials, notes, or other content that you own or have the right to use merely because you process them with Colligo.
You are responsible for ensuring that you have the rights, permissions, or other authority necessary to use documents and materials that you import, annotate, reproduce, or export through Colligo.
6. Exports and User-Directed Actions
Colligo includes features that allow you to create or save outputs based on your work, including supported document and research exports.
Exporting is initiated by you. Once an exported file is saved outside Colligo's managed local project storage, how that file is stored, copied, synchronized, transmitted, or shared depends on the location and services you choose.
For example, a file saved into a folder managed by a third-party cloud storage provider may be uploaded by that provider according to your system configuration and the provider's own policies. That activity is separate from Colligo's local document-processing functionality.
7. Accounts and Registration
Colligo does not currently require you to create a Colligo account to use the macOS application.
Accordingly, Colligo does not require account registration information such as your name, password, profile, or email address as a condition of using its local document features.
Your use of the Mac App Store may separately involve an Apple Account. Apple controls that account relationship and handles it under Apple's own policies.
8. Colligo and Denarya Websites
The privacy characteristics of the Denarya website are separate from Colligo's local document processing.
When you visit official Denarya or Colligo webpages, standard website and analytics technologies may process limited technical or usage information associated with the visit. This can include information such as page visits, browser or device characteristics, approximate technical location information, referring pages, or similar website usage information, depending on the analytics technology in use and your browser settings.
Website analytics are used to understand website performance, traffic, and how visitors interact with Denarya's webpages. Website analytics do not give Denarya access to the contents of documents stored inside your local Colligo projects.
Browser privacy controls, content blockers, and similar technologies may affect how website analytics operate.
9. Apple and the Mac App Store
Colligo is distributed through the Mac App Store. Apple may process information relating to App Store downloads, purchases if applicable, device eligibility, application distribution, updates, diagnostics, or other App Store services.
Information processed by Apple is governed by Apple's own privacy policies and applicable terms. Denarya does not control Apple's independent data practices.
macOS also provides system-level privacy, permissions, file access, security, and diagnostic controls. Those controls may affect how Colligo can interact with files or system features on your Mac.
10. Communications With Denarya
If you contact Denarya for support, feedback, legal inquiries, or another reason, Denarya may receive the information you voluntarily provide in that communication.
This may include your email address, the contents of your message, technical information you choose to provide, or files and screenshots that you intentionally attach.
Please avoid sending confidential documents or sensitive document contents when contacting support unless doing so is necessary for your request and you are comfortable providing that information.
11. External Links and Third-Party Services
Colligo may provide links that open official Denarya webpages or other external resources in your web browser.
When you leave Colligo and interact with another website, application, cloud storage provider, or third-party service, that service may process information according to its own privacy practices.
Denarya is not responsible for the privacy, security, availability, or content practices of independent third-party services.
12. Local Data Retention and Deletion
Colligo's project information is stored locally so that your projects and research can remain available between application sessions.
Local information may remain on your Mac until you delete the relevant project, files, application data, or otherwise remove that information through Colligo, macOS, or your own file-management actions, depending on the type of data involved.
Uninstalling an application does not necessarily remove every file or application-support resource previously created on macOS. You remain responsible for managing local copies, backups, exports, and files stored elsewhere on your system.
Information that you voluntarily send to Denarya, such as a support email, may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to respond to the communication, maintain appropriate business records, resolve disputes, protect users or Denarya, and comply with applicable legal obligations.
13. Security
Colligo is designed to reduce unnecessary exposure of document contents by keeping its normal document-processing workflow local to your Mac.
No application, device, or storage system can guarantee absolute security. The security of local Colligo information also depends on factors outside Denarya's control, including the security of your Mac, your macOS account, backups, connected storage, third-party software, and any services to which you independently copy or export information.
You should use appropriate device security, operating-system updates, access controls, and backups for documents that are important or sensitive.
14. Children's Privacy
Colligo is a general-purpose reading and research application and is not designed specifically to collect personal information from children.
Because Colligo's normal document features do not require a Colligo account or submission of personal information to Denarya, the application is designed to minimize the collection of personal information through ordinary use.
If you believe that a child has provided personal information directly to Denarya through a support communication or another Denarya-operated channel, please contact us so that the matter can be reviewed.
15. International Users
Colligo may be made available in multiple countries and regions through Apple.
Privacy and consumer-protection rights can differ depending on where you live. Nothing in this Privacy Notice is intended to limit privacy rights that cannot lawfully be waived or restricted.
Because Colligo's normal document-processing functionality operates locally, Denarya does not operate a Colligo document-content cloud service that transfers your imported documents between countries as part of ordinary application use.
16. Changes to This Privacy Notice
This Privacy Notice may be updated as Colligo evolves, as Denarya's practices change, or as legal, regulatory, security, or platform requirements change.
When the Privacy Notice is materially revised, the updated version will be published on this page and the "Last updated" date will be changed.
If a future Colligo feature materially changes how personal information or document contents are processed, this Privacy Notice and applicable App Store privacy disclosures will be updated as appropriate.
